If you count Geoff's cover of Trust In Me, and the inclusion of Poor Unfortunate Souls in the Little Mermaid Medley (which I definitely do), then six out of ten of the songs in Aca Top 10 Disney Villains have been re-covered since its release in March 2019. And look, I gotta give a large amount of credit and acknowledgement to Huldra Draco, who has comparison videos for each of these songs (and more!) on her channel, putting the same lyrical parts of the different versions back-to-back for direct comparison, but I had a very specific idea that basically boiled down to "hey what if there was a sort of compilation video where the Aca Top 10 song version flowed directly into the newer versions, as a continuation of the song?"
So yeah, I had a Vision, and I do in fact have some experience with basic video editing (I sometimes quite enjoy it, even, though I rarely do it), and so I made this!

VoicePlay - Oogie Boogie's Song vs Be Prepared
When you've got two covers of Disney (or at least Disneyish) villain songs, and both come with a "full-production" video with makeup, costuming, and set design, and both of them feature Geoff on lead vocals, well, you should probably expect a few notable points of comparison. I noticed a decent handful of random interesting similarities between these two videos, and I wanted to share them!
Geoff first appears on-screen by walking out from behind part of the background setpieces
Layne portrays a character not originally in the scene (or he simply isn't a confirmed character at all) and stays completely separate to the other three vocalists
These other three vocalists act as the trio of 'lackeys' associated with Geoff's villain character
Geoff actually interacts with Layne (not common in any video where everyone is standing up and/or positioned in a straight line, because typically Geoff and Layne are placed at opposite ends in such cases)
Use of green lighting and red lighting!
Not actually a visual thing, but both songs mention "stew", and given that the latter case comes from the original rap bit that Layne wrote for the Be Prepared cover, I figured I might as well mention/include it.
This is more of a contrast than a comparison, but I wanted a specific one for Eli too, and this is good enough!
This
(Also I'm not showing it in screenshots because it'd be better with gifs, but Geoff does a spin in both videos too!)
Both videos end with the villain characters silhouetted in red and laughing/cackling evilly!
(My full visual analysis of Be Prepared will be coming tomorrow!)

2019 vs 2023 - or more specifically, Mr Blue Sky vs In The Air Tonight
What can I say, I like doing visual comparisons, and I've had this idea bouncing around my head for a fair while, and it was just a matter of actually getting around to taking the screenshots for it. Why these two videos? Well other than the time gap (and the fact that I wanted to include J None), I knew the camera angles/filming directions of both were relatively similar to each other, and also similar colour schemes for the clothing! (Other than J's blazer).

In The Hall Of The Mountain King (2022) // Classical Chaos (2024)
Never too late for a screenshot comparison post!
I was hoping someone else was gonna make a comparison post thing for In The Hall Of The Mountain King and Classical Chaos, but nobody did - I guess taking highly-specific screencaps of VoicePlay/Geoff videos for various analysis purposes is mostly my thing 😄 (on Tumblr at least).
So obviously some of the clothing pieces/costume parts got altered a little bit for Classical Chaos as compared to Mountain King. The apparent reason for this, so I've heard, is that some of the original parts got sold in a charity auction for Patrons, and it's likely that they hadn't considered doing a sequel video back then.
But there are a few other differences besides that - Geoff seemingly was painted a slightly different tone of blue, and his lips are darker, Cesar of course has less facial hair, and at least some of the guys are either wearing different contacts to the first time around, or no contacts at all (I'm pretty sure they still all use coloured contacts in Classical Chaos, but it's been a while since I watched the BTS). Eli for example has very bright green eyes with slitted/dilated pupils in Mountain King, but his eyes don't seem as distinct in CC. Or maybe his eyes just stand out less in that video due to lighting/shadows and camerawork and stuff, idk.

After listening to Geoff's newest cover, his full-length version of Big Iron, I was like "hey this kinda has similarities to You Don't Mess Around With Jim (Geoff's previous cover)!" So I made a thing comparing the stories and lyrics of the two songs, because why not?
#And of course Big Iron is a Western song like Unshaken!#geoff castellucci#you don't mess around with jim#ydmawj#big iron#geoff castellucci big iron#acaplaya comparisons#<- it's not a photoset but it is quite literally a comparison so-

Well I said I was interested in doing a specific Geoff Hair Study comparison thing between Sixteen Tons and YDMAWJ, and well, I did! Also when I was doing this I realised how different the camera quality is between the two videos - like it's not that the Sixteen Tons video is blurry or out-of-focus per se, but in YDMAWJ I can basically see every strand of hair - every freckle, even!
Bonus: The actual comparison photos below the cut:

Blog navigation/masterpost of my tags
About time I made one of these!
#Voiceplay visuals - A series of posts dedicated solely to analysing, discussing, and showcasing the visual elements of Voiceplay videos, from sets to outfits/costuming, to choreography and random entertaining moments. Also find the masterpost HERE
#Voiceplay-adjacent visuals - Same thing as Voiceplay Visuals, but for videos from Geoff Castellucci's solo channel instead. And you can find the masterpost for it HERE
#Acaplaya analysis - tag for both Voiceplay visuals and Voiceplay-adjacent visuals, as well as a few random other analysis posts if you bother to scroll far enough (I should really find a different tag for the 'random analysis' stuff but eh)
#Acaplaya photosets and #Acaplaya comparisons - lumping these two tags together because there are some posts that were under the latter tag that have now been given the former tag instead, while some have simply been given the new tag in addition while keeping the other one. Basically Acaplaya Photosets is just for any random photoset compilation I make, such as the usage of air guitar in VoicePlay videos, or the gramophone that shows up in a handful of Geoff's videos for example, while Acaplaya Comparisons is exactly what it says on the tin - comparisons (still via screenshots), such as between Ghost Riders and Unshaken for example.
#Acaplaya drawings - tag for any fanart I do, digital or traditional, coloured or sketched (but spoiler alert, it's all of Geoff 😁)
#Acaplaya asks - responses to any messages/questions that I receive in my inbox!
#Acaplaya ramblings - Posts of mine that don't fit any of the other categories; includes posts about any upcoming VoicePlay/Geoff videos (talking about sneak peek images when shared, and video premieres when they show up on YouTube, that kinda thing)
#Acaplaya reblogs - exactly what you think it is
